While practicing urology over the past 10+ years, starting as a nurse and now a urologist, I have had experience treating patients for a wide variety of urological illnesses in both men and women of all ages. The most common symptoms patients come to see me for are:
- Trouble Urinating - If you're having trouble starting and stopping urinating it's time to see a urologist.
- Blood in your Urine - If you have any blood in your urine you should seek the advice of a urologist.
- Kidney Stones - If you've had kidney stones in the past or have a family history of Kidney Stones you should see a urologist
- Incontinence - Do you pee when you cough, sneeze or laugh? There are non-surgical treatments for both men and women to try before considering surgery.
- High PSA Level (Prostate-specific antigen)
- Prostate Cancer - If you have a family history of prostate cancer it's time to see your urologist to get screened.
- Urinary Retention - If you're feeling like you're not emptying your bladder completely you should see a urologist.
- Erectile Dysfunction - The most common concern I hear from men is about erectile dysfunction. Don't be scared to ask the question. It's more common than you think!
