ORANGE PARK, FL — HCA Healthcare’s Orange Park Medical Center has announced they will be adding a new freestanding emergency center to their health system. The new ER will be located in southwest Clay County at the crossroads of Blanding Boulevard and Everett Avenue and will cost $14.4 million. The hospital purchased the 4.6 acres in March for $3.8 million. The ER will be 10,820 square feet with 11 patient rooms and will have on-site imaging and lab services.
“When people experience an emergency they’re looking for fast, efficient, quality, and convenient care,” says Dr. Steven Goodfriend, Emergency Room Physician and Emergency Services Medical Director at Orange Park Medical Center. “By bringing this new ER to the Middleburg area, we’ll be able to meet the community’s growing need with the same high level of care that we offer at our main hospital. Essentially, we are bringing Orange Park Medical Center, including our specialty care, closer to patients.”
The ER will be the third freestanding emergency room for Orange Park Medical Center. The hospital’s Park West ER located on 103rd Street and Normandy Park ER located on Normandy Boulevard in West Jacksonville treated over 60,000 patients in 2020.
“Immediately after we opened our Park West ER, it was clear that having an emergency room close to people’s homes was in great demand. We quickly expanded the space by 3,100 square feet,” said Dr. Goodfriend. “We are seeing a similar response for Normandy Park ER.”
The new full-service emergency department will operate 24/7 providing care by board-certified physicians, nurses and staff, specially trained to treat adults and children. Patients will have quick access to Orange Park Medical Center and its specialists including maternity, stroke, advanced cardiovascular, neurology, and surgical care. The ER will be open 24-hours a day and will offer around-the-clock radiology services.
The new emergency room will be conveniently located to provide quick emergency care access to those living in Middleburg, Lake Asbury, Green Cove Springs, and Penney Farms. The ER will be located at 2554 Blanding Boulevard and is expected to break ground in the spring of 2022.
