In its 12th year in Macon, the Coliseum "Rock'N Roll Man" Triathlon series on October 10 has an event for anyone ten years and older, no matter your fitness level.

The triathlon has three options:

  • The half ironman distance triathlon (a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike ride, and a 13.1 mile run) will begin at 7:00 a.m.
  • A long course duathlon (a 5 kilometer run, followed by a 56 mile bike ride and ending in a 13.1 mile run) begins at 7:20 a.m.
  • The sprint distance triathlon (a 600 meter swim, a 15 mile bike ride, and a 5 kilometer run) will begin at 7:30 a.m.

For anyone who thinks they might not be ready for a triathlon, the Coliseum Orthopaedic & Spine Institute will host. This event will consist of a 200 yard swim, a nine mile bike ride and will finish with a quick one mile run. While the "Rock'N Roll Man" triathlon race series often appeals to those who know the triathlon sport, the "Rockin' My Mini-Tri" is intended for those who may want to ease their way in to the triathlon world. Rockin' My Mini-Tri participants are asked to arrive by 7:45 a.m. and the race will begin at 8:15 a.m.

A transition clinic will be held on Saturday, September 26 and October 3 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Lake Tobesofkee's Sandy Beach at the Pavilion. This clinic is designed for anyone who wants to learn more about the ins and outs of a triathlon. The clinic will be led by a Nationally Ranked Triathlete and will go over all of the triathlon basics from what to wear to race day activities.

Finally, the Rock Star Run 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run will begin at 4:30 p.m. after all of the triathlon events have ended. The Rock Star Run is a family friendly event designed to encourage physical activity while having a great time. Runners are encouraged to dress up like their favorite rock star; families or groups of friends can dress up like a band. Timed awards will be given as well as award for best dressed individual and group. A portion of the proceeds for this run will go to the Wounded Warrior Project.

All events will take place at the Sandy Beach Recreation Area at Lake Tobesofkee in Macon, Georgia. For more information go to www.gamultisports.com/ to register.
